Canyon's Edge Winery

From the Soil to the Bottle Canyons Edge Winery is pleased to bring you exceptional wines with exceptional value. Our wines start at our own premium vineyards located in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA in the south east part of Washington state. This rugged landscape was sculpted at the end of the last ice age 15,000 years ago. Huge cataclysmic floods ripped apart the land forming giant canyons and wastelands. When the waters receded new soils and minerals were deposited ending a journey that started several hundred miles away in the Northern Rocky Mountains.

Our vineyards are now rooted in this soil. The grape vines struggle to get their roots deep down into the rocky soils where a perfect balance of minerals await. A windy, arid land of constant sunshine rounds out the magnificent terroir* needed to grow exceptional grapes.

 Award Winning Wines

As you pour a glass you can recognize this legacy in the wine. These rich, concentrated dark colored, wines can only come from grapes that struggled, producing small thick skinned grapes. The balance and strength of these special small grapes provides full acids, rich fruit qualities and soft tannins

John P. Haw - Our winemaker

John Haw is an Award-winning Winemaker. When he speaks about wine, he speaks with the strength of learning the business from the ground up.
Literally – at the ripe age of twelve he started sweeping floors in a Michigan winery near the family home.
More than three decades later, he has grown to become one of the most honored winemakers in the Northwest.

Canyon's Edge Cabernet first crush Combining a remarkable intuitive sense of what needs to be done in each step of the winemaking process with rigorous and detailed attention to each step gives John the rare talent of making wines of balance, grace, style, flavor and elegance. We are fortunate to have his keen and experienced palate and practices at our winery.
